Travel Restrictions

Hertz vehicles cannot be driven into and/or dropped off in any African, Asian, or Middle-East countries, nor in Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.

Hertz vehicles may be driven into but not dropped off in Finland, Ireland, Norway, Sweden.

Hertz vehicles may be driven into and dropped off in Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia (Ljubljana only), Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom (islands not included).

The following vehicle groups cannot be dropped off outside Italy:

-(B2) Vespa 125CC or similar

-(H) Fiat Scudo Panorama or similar

-(H7) Ford Galaxy or similar

-(L) Ford Galaxy or similar

-(M) Peugeot Traveller or similar

- (D2) Nissan LEAF Electric

- Commercial vans/trucks

Hertz vehicles cannot be driven in any of the East European countries with the exception of Croatia where the transit only is allowed with written authorization which is given at the time of pick-up and attached to the rental agreement. Moreover Hertz vehicles are not allowed to be taken on ferries from any Italian Harbour with destination Croatia.

Should these restrictions be ignored all insurance (Third Party Liability, CDW, TP, Super Cover, PI), if accepted, shall be deemed null and void. The driver will be held fully responsible in case of damage to, or loss of the vehicle and will bear all consequences, including the cost of repatriation of the damaged vehicle.

Breakdown assistance

Breakdown assistance is included with this car. In case of emergency during business hours, call the number provided by your car hire supplier and they will send help. Assistance outside of business hours may incur an extra charge. Please note that this only covers mechanical failure.

Unlimited mileage

Unlimited mileage with this rental means you can drive as much as you want, with no additional charges for extra kilometres.

Collision damage waiver (CDW)

Often referred to as CDW, this partially covers damages incurred to your vehicle. Please note that you will still be liable for insurance excess (see: Not Included section below). CDW does not cover damage or loss of keys, tyres, glass or undercarriage.

Theft waiver (TW)

This covers costs relating to the theft or attempted theft of the rental vehicle but does not cover the loss of personal possessions. Please note that you will still be liable for insurance excess (see below).

Third party liability protection (TP)

This covers damage sustained to another driver’s car in the event of an accident caused by you.
